OCSC: Why do you sail?

DS: I sail because the combination of salt air, great sailing companions, and the thrill of driving a powerful machine through the water, powered by the wind, is like a magic elixir for my mind and body. I feel about 40 years younger when sailing.

OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?

DS: The professionalism, passion for learning, and caring attitude toward clients and staff, tells me its a great place to work, even for part-timers like me.

OCSC: What's your sailing background?

DS:I've sailed and raced for over 35 years, mostly in the Bay and nearby coastal waters, but have chartered in other countries, and participated in one delivery back from Hawaii.

OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?

DS: When not sailing you'll find me designing and building projects around the house, maintaining my boat, travelling, working with my grandchildren to help them grow up and get thru college, and being actively involved in politics at local and national level. Am a Plannining Commissioner in City of Oakley, for example.

OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time?

DS: Two Years Before the Mast, American Practical Navigator(Bowditch), Heavy Weather Sailing, Dutton's Navigation&Piloting, and various books by Tristan Jones.
