OCSC: Why do you sail?
TS: Because of the joy and quality time spent with people, the beauty of nature, and because it's fun fun fun!
OCSC: What do you enjoy about working at OCSC?
TS: The front office staff ;-), the great organization of the school, and all of the fantastic co-workers.
OCSC: What's your sailing background?
TS: Started sailing on the bay at ten years old; bought my first keelboat at 21; sailed and raced that Coronado 25 for three years; moved to Colorado for six years and sailed on the lakes there; came back to the Bay Area and resumed sailing and racing; bought a Valiant 40 and cruised the Caribbean six weeks at a time for three years; got my Captain's License in 2008 and started working at OCSC.
OCSC: When you're not sailing, what can we find you doing?
TS: With the wind still blowing in my face, water and snow skiing, riding my Harley, Scuba diving, running my construction business.
OCSC: What are your top five sailing books of all time?
TS: A couple of books about being adrift in rafts after having a boat sink from under them:
Alone Around the World, Slocum.
