Belize, "Mother Nature's Best Kept Secret".
Moorings has a new location in beautiful Belize, but it's not just a new base -- it's a whole new world! They call it "Mother Nature's Best Kept Secret", and OCSC Sailing is happy to share this fantastic sailing destination with you.
Only a few Hours From The US, Yet So Far Away
It's a short flight from the US to Belize, but once you arrive at this quiet paradise, nestled between Mexico and Guatemala on the Caribbean coast, it's as if you went halfway around the world. The year-round temperature ranges from 74-84°F. Plus, with 185 square miles of protected sailing, hundreds of individual cayes, and crystal clear waters to 100 feet, you'll enjoy some of the best outdoor activities in the world: sailing, diving, snorkeling, bonefishing, kayaking, bird and wildlife watching, exploring Mayan ruins and more. As for the beaches... let's just say they defy description!
Great Sailing – Naturally Amazing
The 15-22 knot easterly trade winds of Belize's sailing grounds will take you to some of the most amazing places you can imagine. The brilliant turquoise waters inside one of the largest continuous barrier reefs create a pristine, protected cruising ground. The sailing is a breeze and there are hundreds of sandy cayes for anchoring all within the reef. The distance between anchorages is short, and the shallow draft of the all-catamaran fleet assures easy navigation.
"Mother Nature's Best Kept Secret"
The coast of Belize has an absolute abundance of wildlife and sea life. Manatees, schools of tropical fish and coral gardens thrive here, and so will you. Everywhere you go, snorkeling is excellent, but at Queen Cayes it's divine. Then there's Lime Caye, which is everybody's idea of what the South Pacific should look like. One island over from here, you'll find the thick coconut forest and pristine beaches of Hunting Caye, the gem of the Sapodillas. Here, you'll also find a manned lighthouse. Visit a fishing camp on Buttonwood Caye to sample the catch of the day -- likely spectacular lobster or snapper. Around the very sheltered Pelican Cayes, you can explore the shallow areas in a sea kayak or dinghy. And sailing is easy between all of these cayes. Every day is a new adventure, each more beautiful than the last. This is what makes Belize "Mother Nature's Best Kept Secret."
